LEADERSHIP MENDOCINO

Leadership Mendocino is a program of the Ukiah Foundation for Commerce and Education. We believe that strong interpersonal skills and a grounding in County and community issues are key to effective local leadership now and in the future.

The Leadership Mendocino program fosters the capacity to think and act beyond the boundaries that limit our effectiveness. Through collaborative mini-workshops and projects, the program fosters creativity and team effort. Team effort is the path to excellence - at work and in community endeavors.

Every leader and organization faces obstacles that are difficult to surmount - from executives and farmers confronting the global marketplace to educators trying to lift student achievement to nonprofit groups and government agencies addressing critical social issues with tight budgets.

Leadership Mendocino believes that solutions to these challenges exist and that through working together collaboratively we will find the best solutions.

Our program uses networking, knowledge of communities and county, and the latest information about leadership skills development to foster leadership for the benefit of our county, our businesses, and truthfully, society worldwide. Participants in the program meet once a month in a different region of the County. They learn about resources and leadership challenges from the community, business and county leaders who are confronting those challenges. Our program emphasizes participative learning because it is the most effective way for adults to practice interpersonal skills, develop relationships with our community leaders and "get" the complexity of local issues.

Leadership Mendocino is for you if you would like to advance self-awareness and interpersonal relations that are key to effective leadership in business and public organizations. It is for you if you desire to understand the interlocking issues that confront the communities and County of Mendocino, and it is for you if you desire to develop collaborative relationships with those in your class and community leaders you meet - people who are working to make a difference.

Look around you: Many of our community leaders are graduates of the Leadership Mendocino program.
